Did you know that lasers are good for something besides messing with your cats?
Using a water bottle and a laser pointer, one can easily make an experiment that demonstrates internal reflection.
Internal reflection is when light goes from a more dense medium and is also approaching the boundary of a less dense medium--such as traveling from water into air.
The light must also hit the boundary at a critical angle that changes depending on the medium being worked with.
This demonstrates how fibre optics and fibre optic cables work, which give us Internet.
Fibre optic cables can trap beams of light and guide it anywhere we need it to and encode all kinds of information.
