Google is releasing 20 Million Mosquito's in Fresno, CA.

Yes you read correctly. Don't worry though Fresno, Ca it's not as bad as it sounds. Verily Life Sciences, formerly Google Life science division will be releasing roughly twenty Million mosquitoes in about two neighborhoods within the next twenty weeks which is about a 300 acre proximity.

The main goal at hand is to fight off:

“the devastating global health impact that disease-carrying mosquitoes inflict on people around the world.” as announced by Verily’s Debug Project.

More over the main focus is destroying the Zika virus thatmost Aedes are born with. The mosquito's being released are all sterile male's who have been treated with Wolbachia which is a reoccurring bacterium. So the good news is that the males don't bite, so don't worry about stocking up on mosquito repellent just yet. If all goes as planned and the sterile males mate with the females whom are the main concern because they are the host to all the deadly diseases and Zika, the eggs that are laid will not hatch which will stop the spreading of the diseases.

In all this is a good thing and hopefully turns out to be successful. So if you see a group of sterile male Mosquito's make sure to welcome them in.
