What is Ice? (Silly question I know)

Those Solid Ice cubes that make your drink more refreshing on a hot summer day. Water as we all know is composed of a 2 part Hydrogen and a single Oxygen Bond. The Hydrogen is constantly making and breaking bonds with other hydrogen atoms, the bond are so strong that they allow for the water to stay in its liquid state.

About 32°F the Hydrogen atoms lock together to form a crystallized pattern and the atoms in general slow down movement dramatically (Loss of energy) which in turn causes these hydrogen atoms to lock. The crystallization of the water molecules takes up more space than that of the free-flowing molecules of liquid water, which is why ice is less dense than water and floats in your cup.
