New Breathtaking images of Jupiter!
Citizen scientists Gerald Eichstädt and Seán Doran created a breathtaking image of Jupiter close up using data from the JunoCam imager on NASA’s Juno spacecraft.
The visible oval shaped storms better know as "String of Pearls" can be seen close to the top of the image. Each of the light and dark bands are wider than our earth. Also each storm violently reaching speeds of hundreds of miles per hour. Just amazing.
Juno acquired the image on May 19, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. PST (2:30 p.m. EST) from an altitude of about 20,800 miles (33,400 kilometers) above Jupiter's cloud tops.
