Judith Jarvis Thomson's "People Seeds"

This thought experiment is still widely used today in ethics. It gives defense for abortion in the case of consensual sex.

We are asked to imagine living in a world where these "People Seeds" fly around on a every day basis. If they were to enter your house they could attach to the floor and root. We are fully aware of the "people seeds" so we take precautions and buy the best screen protection for our windows and doors so they can't enter. Seeing as how the screens can be faulty, a "people seed" makes its way in your house and plants itself.

Thompson makes the assumption that people would feel like they are not under any obligation to accommodate the seed in their house for 9 months or years (Though it would be nice of you) seeing as they took all the precautions to keeping the "people seeds" out of your house.

so, by analogy, Thompson would argue that abortion is justifiable in this case due to you taking all the necessary precautions just like taking all the precautions to avoid pregnancy in consensual sex i.e contraception.

Would you remove the "people seed" from your home, after taking all the precautionary steps to avoid it entering your home in the first place? If so then you might just be pro-choice
