Free Will and Determinism.

Ask yourself, am I reading this post because that's what I've chosen to do, or am I reading this post because I have no choice and Im determined to do so? Many would be inclined to believe that we have a say in what we do, and that choices can in fact be made.

John-Dylan Haynes, professor at the Bernstein center for computational Neuroscience runs some tests demonstrating that small choices, like say moving your arm or finger, can be known up to six seconds before you act. Does this prove determinism? Many philosophers and scientists alike have said that its hardly surprising that we see a building up of readiness potential just before making decisions. Its not surprising simply because that's the way human thought process works.. its just that.. "a process".. Our decisions are always influenced by some kind of background information and some sort of anticipatory brain activity to enable a smooth carrying out of that behavior is expected.

So I suppose its open for interpretation. Does this test prove determinism? or have scientists simply found a correlation between brain activity and the choices we make..?
